This Is Where I Begin Again

I stared at this blank page longer than I expected.
I wanted my first post to be perfect—beautiful enough to make someone stop scrolling, warm enough to make a stranger feel at home, and honest enough to reflect who I really am.
At first, I thought I would write about sharing iftar in Turkey with complete strangers. It is one of my favorite stories because it reminded me that kindness often appears when we least expect it.
But every time I sat down to write, another story quietly asked to be told first.
Mine.
Not because it is extraordinary, but because it explains why I am here.
I never imagined I would become a writer, build a community of women around books and meaningful conversations, or discover that some of life’s greatest lessons arrive only after everything you thought was certain begins to change.
A few years ago, I found myself rebuilding my life from the ground up.
I never imagined I would be starting over in my forties.
When you leave, you don’t simply walk away from a relationship.
You walk into a place where there is nowhere left to hide.
You are forced to meet your grief.
Your disappointment.
Your anger.
Your regrets.
Sometimes they all arrive at once.
Sometimes they take turns, visiting you when you least expect them.
If you’ve lived with pain for a long time, leaving can feel like taking your first full breath after years of holding it in.
There is relief.
There is peace.
There is even gratitude.
But relief is not the end of the story.
With time, a different kind of pain begins to surface.
The silence becomes louder.
The empty chair at the table becomes more noticeable.
The milestones your children experience without you leave quiet scars on your heart.
Healing isn’t a straight line.
Some days, you celebrate the courage it took to leave.
Other days, you mourn everything that leaving cost you.
And somehow, both feelings can exist at the same time.
I’ve learned that healing isn’t about choosing one feeling over the other.
It’s about making room for both.
Rebuilding a life isn’t one big moment.
It’s a collection of small moments.
A book that changes your perspective.
A conversation that stays with you for weeks.
A journey that reminds you how big the world is.
A stranger who becomes a friend.
A journal page that finally gives words to something you’ve carried in silence.
These are the moments that have slowly helped me find myself again.
This is why I’m writing.
Not because I’ve reached the other side.
But because I’m still walking.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that we are all rebuilding something.
Some are rebuilding after divorce.
Some after grief.
Some after losing a career, a dream, a friendship, their health, or simply the version of themselves they thought they would become.
Our stories may be different.
The courage to begin again is something we all share.
This space is where I’ll write about books that challenge me, journeys that surprise me, conversations that stay with me, and the quiet lessons hidden in ordinary life.
I don’t know exactly where these letters will take us.
But I know they’ll be honest.
And I hope that somewhere between my words and your reading, we’ll remind each other that beginning again is not a sign of failure.
Sometimes, it’s the bravest thing we’ll ever do.
So, welcome.
Whether you’re here because you’re rebuilding, searching, questioning, or simply curious about the world, I’m grateful our paths have crossed.
This is where I begin again.
Perhaps, in some way, it’s where you begin again too.
