Last Thursday November 9th, 2023, was the last day of the 11th International Conference on Inter-professional Education and Collaborative Practice (IPECP), All Together Better Health (ATBH) XI. One of my mentor who I would like to call a friend was keynote speaker and I wanted to support him and attend his speech as I am sure he will impress me as always.
His speech suppose to be 9 AM with the beginning of the last day agenda but they started with a beautiful meditation, then Mr. Mohammed turn come. Mohammed Eraky, is a cancer survivor, a father of two beautiful daughters, trainer and amazing spirit who love to help and support anyone asked him. very generous person and I am blessed that I knew him and I had the chance to be mentored by him.
“Keep MOVING: Building Atomic Habit to Move & Live a Healthier Lifestyle – A Cancer Survivor Story” … I felt so proud reading this in the conference program agenda, he is just a very inspiring person to me, he spoke about how he was having perfect life, as devoting husband and father, having a good career and how suddenly things went wrong when he went to check a stomach pain that he had for a while and it end up to be cancer in his kidney!
Then he spoke about the treatment process and what decisions he have to make to adjust with the new reality, what he had to give up, what he have to add and committed to for the rest of his life.
it was just amazing for me how this person tailored his “Life Saving Manual” … he added the friends’ support by starting up communities about things he is passionate about … Baby Steps Marathon for Sport and Talent Hub for all kind of Arts … now we have these communities that attract minds like him and allow people to help and support each others. For me the energy of creation is something not everyone blessed to have … He is one of the people who have it and master it.
Mohammed also mentioned the daily struggles that he face with the hyper tension … there are things we have to accept its existence with us for the rest of our lives as it will remain whether we like it or not … his story about keep moving forward and never give up no matter what … and when you hit hard stone in life … create something that help you and help others around you.
Normally after you deliver a speech, there are few minutes dedicated to the audience’s questions … when i was listening to questions … most or maybe all the questions were by people from the medical field profession … and I noticed that everyone asked, want a manual! … Like how you did this? can you give us steps? what was your reference? and I was thinking that Mohammed didn’t follow a book, he follow what he felt he need, he follow what his soul was calling him to do and that part of his purpose in life … Yes for sure he did lots of research, he listens to hundreds of podcasts, he asked and consult dozens of doctors but at the end … he created his own manual and follow it and it seem it works fine for him.
Personally, I believe everyone should do his homework when it come to his life, you need to take responsibility and do your research reading, ask and consult as much as make you more confident about your decision, take your time to reflect but don’t just depend on others as a reference or follow others manuals when you feel it not suit you.
So my question to you … Would you like to have a manual or would you like to create?
Coach Mo. is such an inspiration …and so are you Hayfa..well said👏👏
my answer would be both , depending on the issue am facing and many other factors.
“Mohammed didn’t follow a book, he follow what he felt he need, he follow what his soul was calling him to do and that part of his purpose in life “.
What an aspiring article Haifa. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us.
It’s well known among mature and experienced people that what suits one cannot fit another. This conception can be applied for all sectors in our life and this story another prove of it .
